BULANBULAN

BULAN BULAN

Indonesian Street Food

Home of the martabak — Jakarta's legendary stuffed pancake, golden-crusted, honeycombed, and folded warm. Sweet or savory. Tucson, this is the full moon you can eat.

Why the moon?

Across Indonesia, sweet martabak is lovingly called terang bulan — "moonlight" — because the big golden round, fresh off the pan before folding, looks exactly like a full moon.

We make ours the street-stall way: batter rested until it's alive, poured onto a screaming-hot round pan, honeycomb rising through, sugar, butter, and a lid of steam. Folded, sliced, handed over warm.

Bulan Bulan means moon, twice — because once is never enough.

The Bulan Bulan

$18 · feeds 2–3

Our full-size sweet martabak: thick, chewy, honeycombed through, with a crisp lace edge. Filled the classic way — chocolate sprinkles, condensed milk, butter, and white cheddar (trust us). Sliced to share, if you're feeling generous.

Not that hungry? Bulan Bites gets you the same magic, four slices at a time.

Where we'll be

Chasing the moon

We're pre-launch and firing up the pans soon — University of Arizona, breweries, and Tucson's night markets are first on the route. Follow along and be there when the first round hits the window.
